Playing videos in the app
The Yandex Start app can open MP4, WEBM, OGV, X-M4V, WMV, and HLS video files.
Flash video files aren't supported.
Watch videos
Rewind videos
To skip ahead 5 seconds or rewind 5 seconds, double-tap the right or left edge of the video, respectively.
View videos over apps
Note
The feature is currently being developed and isn't available to all users.
If you switch to a different app when viewing a full-screen video in the Yandex Start app, it continues playing in a small pop-up that appears on top of the other app. By tapping the pop-up, you can resume watching the video in the Yandex Start app. You can drag the pop-up anywhere on your screen.
To enable this feature:

Go to (profile picture) → App settings.
- Enable the following options:
- Show video on top of other apps: Keep watching the video in a separate window when switching from full-screen to another app.
- Show video when leaving the tab: Keep watching the video in a separate window when switching to another tab or another app.
Problems with video
Video lags
The sound is ahead of the video, or there's a black screen instead of the video.
Temporarily disable power saving mode, then clear the cache and cookies.
Disable power saving

Go to (profile picture) → App settings.
- Tap Power saving mode.
- Go to Power-saving settings and switch the slider to Off.
Clear cache

Go to (profile picture) → App settings.
- Tap Clear data.
- Select Cache.
- Tap Clear data.
Clear cookies

Go to (profile picture) → App settings.
- Tap Clear data.
- Enable Website data.
- Tap Clear data.
Low video quality
The quality of video playback usually depends on your internet connection speed. If it's inexplicably low, try clearing the cache:

Go to (profile picture) → App settings.
- Tap Clear data.
- Select Cache.
- Tap Clear data.
