Text recognition

The Smart Camera in the Yandex Start app can recognize text. You can then copy it, share it on social media, or look it up on Yandex Search.

Note

Allow Yandex Start to access your camera and files in the device settings.

Open the Yandex Start app.
On the Home screen in the SmartBox, tap to open Smart camera.
Choose Search mode.
Point the camera at the text. Tap the dot on the recognized object, take a photo, or choose an image with text from your device's gallery. The camera will recognize the text and highlight it in white.
Select the text:
- To select part of the text, tap the first word and move the slider to the right.
- To select the entire text, take a photo or choose an image from your gallery (tap the round thumbnail icon in the lower-right corner). If you need to shorten the text, use the slider.
Select an action:
- Search: Search for the text on Yandex.
- Copy: Copy the text to the clipboard.
- Translate: Translate the text into another language.
- Text-to-speech: Read the text aloud.
- Share: Share the text on social media.
