I got into an accident during a ride

We insure the life and health of drivers and riders during Yandex.Taxi and Uber rides.

If you had a passenger and someone was injured in an accident:

1) Call 112 and report what happened.

2) Be sure to wait until the traffic police and ambulance staff arrive.

3) Ask the traffic police staff to give you the time and place of your accident investigation.

4) Contact us. We can answer your questions and help you receive your insurance payout.

Insurance coverage for both drivers and riders begins as soon as you tap the On the way button in the app. It ends as soon as you tap Finish.

All Yandex.Taxi and Uber rides in Kazakhstan are now covered by insurance. Insurance covers the time while you are carrying out an order and transporting a rider. Drivers don't need to pay for insurance or activate any special options.

The maximum insurance payout is 2,500,000 tenge.

What's covered by insurance?

The insurance covers the life and health of everyone inside the vehicle at the time of an accident. If you accepted an order from Yandex.Taxi or Uber and subsequently got into an accident while transporting a rider, you will get an insurance payout even if you were at fault for causing the accident.

Please note that damage to vehicles is not covered by ride insurance.

What should I do at the scene of an accident?

— If you had a passenger and someone was injured in the accident, please call 112 and report what happened.

— Wait until the traffic police and ambulance staff arrive. If you left the scene of the accident in an ambulance, the hospital staff must inform the traffic police that you have been transported from the scene.

— Ask the traffic police to give you the time and place of your accident investigation.

How do I receive the insurance payout?

— Send a request to the Yandex.Taxi support team. A member of our support team will relay your request to the insurance company.

— Then follow the instructions provided by insurance company employees.

— If the documents are in order, you will receive your payout within two weeks.

What documents do I need to submit?

— Insurance claim. The form will be provided by the insurance company.

— Certificate of injury sustained during accident, hospital discharge record, or report from your medical file. You should receive them at the clinic or trauma center where you are treated.

— Traffic police documents: incident report and court ruling or decision.

— For bruising and minor injuries, there is a simplified process for receiving an insurance payout. You only need to submit your request with the first page of your passport attached. You most likely will not need any sort of written confirmation from the traffic police or medical records.

— The insurance company may ask for additional information. Try to comply with all of their requests. If the insurance company deems your case to be suspicious, payouts may be delayed.

You don't have to submit original documents. You can send photos to the email address specified by the insurance company.

Can an insurance payout request be turned down?

Your insurance request may be declined if there was a gross violation of traffic regulations (e.g. you ran a red light, drove into oncoming traffic, or left the scene of an accident).
