# Theme

## App theme {#to-set-theme}

You can choose the dark, light, or system background for app elements (tabs, the SmartBox, and others).

   On the home screen, tap ![](../_assets/profile-icon.png) (profile picture).

1. Tap **App settings** → **Theme** (for iOS devices: **Interface and tools** → **Theme**).
1. Select one of the options:

      - **Always dark**
      - **Always light**
      - **System settings**

For iOS, the **System settings** option is available on devices running version 13.0 and higher. This option is selected by default.

## Problems with the theme {#problems-with-theme}

To make the feature available, [update](https://yandex.kz/support/m-yandex/en/app/install.md#toupdate) the app.

If you changed the [appearance of Yandex services](https://yandex.com/tune/common) in the settings but nothing has changed, the problem may be in the Yandex app.

[Set the same theme in the app](#to-set-theme) as in Yandex services.
