# Actions with tabs

## Create a new tab {#newtab}

#### Method 1

1. Enter a search query or site address in the [SmartBox](https://yandex.kz/support/m-yandex/en/app/search.md#search).
1. Tap **Search**.

#### Method 2

1. Tap the tab counter icon (![](../_assets/tabs-3.png) if three tabs are open).
1. Tap ![](../_assets/add-tab-icon-1.png).
1. Enter a search query or web address.
1. Tap **Search**.


## Go to another tab {#opentab}

1. In the lower-right corner of the screen, tap the tab counter icon (![](../_assets/tabs-3.png) if you have three tabs open).
1. Tap a tab in the list.


## Close tabs {#close-tab}

- Android

   1. Tap the tab counter icon (![](../_assets/tabs-3.png) if three tabs are open).
   1. Close:
      - **One tab**. Swipe the tab left.
      - **All tabs**. At the bottom of the screen, tap **Close all**.

   If you have more than 100 tabs open, the app can automatically close the ones that you haven't looked at for the longest time:

      On the home screen, tap ![](../_assets/profile-icon.png) **(profile picture)** → **App settings**.

   1. Select **Close tabs**.
   1. Specify when to close tabs that you haven't viewed for a long time. If you don't want the app to close tabs automatically, select **Never**.

- iOS

   1. Tap the tab counter icon (![](../_assets/tabs-3.png) if three tabs are open).
   1. Close:
      - **One tab**. Swipe the tab left.
      - **All tabs**. At the bottom of the screen, tap **Close all**.

## Tabs open by themselves {#open-tabs}

1. [Update](https://yandex.kz/support/m-yandex/en/app/install.md#toupdate) the app.
1. Run a virus check on your device using several [antivirus apps](https://yandex.com/support/common/security/antiviruses-free.html#free).
1. Clear [cache and cookies](https://yandex.kz/support/m-yandex/en/privacy/clear-data.md#delete) (only cache on iOS).
