# QR code scanner

A [QR code](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code) is a two-dimensional barcode used to encrypt information, such as a site page address, product information, or text.

To open the QR code scanner:

1. Open Yandex Browser and click ![](../_assets/scan1.png) in the [SmartBox](https://yandex.kz/support/browser-mobile-iphone/en/navigation/search.md#smartbox).

1. Select the **Search** mode.

1. Hold your smartphone camera over the QR code.

1. Select the action.
