# Power saving mode

Power saving mode in Yandex Browser for Mobile saves your battery charge and gives you one extra hour of tablet use.

## What’s happening {#how-works}

In this mode, Yandex Browser optimizes energy consumption. For example:

- Reduces activity of the background tabs.

- Enables the reader mode.

- Uses hardware video [codecs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_codec) instead of [VP9](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VP9) and [VP8](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VP8).


- Disables the [parallax](https://www.flaticon.com/blog/parallax-effect/) effect for the background when opening a new tab screen.


## Enabling and disabling {#on}

##### **Automatic**
 
:   Yandex Browser turns on power saving mode when the battery charge drops to the level specified in the [settings](#adjustment) (default is 20%). In this case, the ![](../_assets/settings-menu-icon.svg) icon in the right corner of the bottom panel changes to ![](../_assets/settings-icon-power-saving.svg).

    1. You can set the preferred mode:
        
        - Switch the slider to **Off** to always keep power saving mode off.
        
        - Switch the slider to **On** to always keep power saving mode on.
        
        - Set the slider between **Off** and **On** at the desired value (default is 20%) to turn on power saving mode at a specific battery level.

## Settings {#adjustment}

1. Adjust the settings:

    - **Power saving settings**. Use the slider to set the charge level to trigger the mode.
	
    - **Show widget in menu**. Disable this option to remove the ![Power saving](../_assets/settings-menu-icon.svg) option from the **Power saving** menu. 
    
1. In power saving mode, some Yandex Browser functions are disabled. You can re-enable:

    - **Read mode**.
	
    - **Smooth animation of web page elements**. This will allow maps and online games to be rendered in high quality.
	
    - **App animations**.
